Dharmanagar, Tripura, 16th of April 2026 : The results of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections have presented a mixed picture across various constituencies in North Tripura.

However, on the whole, Tipra Motha has emerged as the dominant force across the state. Winning 24 out of 28 seats, the party has secured a clear and overwhelming majority. On the other hand, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been reduced to just 4 seats, marking a significant political setback. A closer look at some key constituencies in the North District reveals interesting trends: Damchhara–Jampui (Seat No. 1):Tipra Motha candidate Bhaboranjan Reang won the seat with 12,836 votes. BJP candidate Rabindra Reang secured 9,022 votes, resulting in a comfortable margin for Tipra Motha.Karamchhara (Seat No. 4): Tipra Motha continued its winning streak here, with its candidate securing 14,348 votes. BJP’s Bimalkanti Chakma received 12,543 votes, losing by around 1,682 votes—a result seen as politically significant.Dasda–Kanchanpur (Seat No. 3):In contrast, BJP made a comeback in this constituency. BJP candidate Shailendra Nath won with 13,467 votes, defeating Tipra Motha’s Umashankar Reang, who received 8,482 votes.

Following the announcement of results, Tipra Motha leader Pradyot Kishore Debbarma shared a message on social media stating, “Pyaar jeeta hai, nafrat haara hai” (Love has won, hatred has lost), and urged everyone to maintain peace and harmony.Meanwhile, BJP candidates accepted the verdict gracefully, stating that they respect the people’s mandate. Political analysts believe that this outcome has effectively shattered BJP’s hopes of capturing the ADC.Overall, this election signifies not just a political shift but also hints at a new political equation emerging in the tribal regions.
