Agartala, Tripura, 28th of July, 2026 : Chairperson of the National Commission for Women (NCW), Vijaya Rahatkar, arrived in Agartala today (28th July, 2026) on a three-day visit to Tripura.

She will visit Udaipur to participate in the “She Serves” programme organized by the Gomati Zilla Parishad. During her visit to Udaipur, she will also inspect the One Stop Centre and attend an awareness programme on child marriage and its social impact at Rajarshi Hall.
Tripura Minister for Social Welfare and Social Education Tinku Roy and MLA Abhishek Debroy will be present at the awareness programme. Following the event, the NCW Chairperson will participate in a review meeting with district administration and police officials.
Addressing a press conference today at the Tripura Women’s Commission office, Chairperson Jharna Debbarma announced the details.
Tripura Women’s Commission Chairperson Jharna Debbarma said that on 30 July, NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar will begin the day by visiting the Agartala Central Jail. She will thereafter hold a meeting with the Officer-in-Charge of the Tripura Police and other senior police officials.
Later in the afternoon, she will attend an awareness programme on the prevention of stalking at a private hotel in Agartala. During the event, she will also inaugurate the official website of the Tripura State Women’s Commission.
She will also participate in a workshop on the prevention of sexual harassment at the workplace organized at Sukanta Academy. She is scheduled to leave the state on the same day.
Those present at the press conference included Tripura State Women’s Commission Vice-Chairperson Madhumita Chowdhury, Member Secretary Pallavi Roy, and other members of the Commission.
