Khowai, Tripura, 18th of April 2026 : Post-Poll Violence has reportedly across the State following the results of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections.
According to report following the announcement of the Autonomous District Council election results, incidents of post-poll violence were reported. Emergency service vehicles, including ambulances and fire department units, were attacked, and even fire service personnel came under assault after the results were declared yesterday (17th April, 2026).
In this context, following the announcement of the Autonomous District Council election results yesterday, an arson incident was reported in the Belphang area under Khowai subdivision. When fire tenders and personnel reached the spot, they were attacked by miscreants.
Similarly, last night around 9 PM, while several critical patients were being referred from Khowai District Hospital to Agartala GBP Hospital, miscreants attacked the ambulance near Khowai District Hospital. The ambulance vehicle sustained significant damage in the incident.
Interacted with media, the Medical Superintendent of the district hospital stated that the matter will be discussed in detail with the Khowai District Magistrate and senior police officials. Meanwhile, allegations have emerged from various quarters that despite attacks on police, ambulance, and fire service personnel and vehicles, there has been no adequate response from the administration, causing widespread concern among the public.
