Dharmanagar, Tripura, 28th of April 2026 : A sensational burglary incident in the Jamirala area on College Road under Dharmanagar Sub-Division in North Tripura has created a stir in the locality. In connection with the theft at a shop owned by local resident Md. Kajal Mia, Dharmanagar police have already managed to arrest one accused.According to the details, on the 24th, the shop owner, Md. Kajal Mia, lodged a written complaint at Dharmanagar Police Station. In his complaint, he stated that most of the goods from his shop, along with cash amounting to ₹11,200, had been stolen. Based on the complaint, police registered a case numbered 2026DMN, dated 24/04/2026, under sections 329(4)/305(A)/3(S) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and initiated an investigation.

During the investigation, acting on a tip-off, police took prompt action. A raid was conducted at the residence of Kompu Shukla Das (33), son of Krishna Gopal Shukla Das, a resident of Ward No. 1 under Dakshin Hurua Gram Panchayat. It was later found that the accused was staying at his in-laws’ house, from where he was arrested and brought to the police station.Thanks to the swift police action, several stolen items were recovered from a shop in the Paschim Chandrapur area. Additionally, the stolen cash amounting to ₹11,200 was also recovered.Officer-in-Charge of Dharmanagar Police Station, Mina Debbarma, stated, “The names of a few more individuals involved in this incident have come up. Efforts are ongoing to arrest them.”
Although the incident initially caused panic in the area, the prompt action by the police has brought some relief to the local residents. The investigation is still underway, and police are hopeful that the remaining accused will be arrested soon.
