Agartala, Tripura, 13th of September, 2026 : With the initiative of Ramakrishna Mission organized Voluntary Blood Donation Camp at Ramakrishna Mission Dhaleshwar, Agartala, Tripura on Saturday (12th September, 2026).
Addressing at the Voluntary Blood Donation Camp Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that Voluntary blood donation is a noble and sacred means of serving humanity. Blood voluntarily donated by one person can save the life of another person in critical condition. Therefore, people from all sections of society must come forward for this great cause of human welfare. In particular, greater awareness about blood donation needs to be built among the youth.
The Chief Minister said that Swami Vivekananda taught us that service to humanity is service to God. Standing by people and working for the welfare of the helpless is true service to humanity. Through blood donation, it becomes possible to directly save the life of a person in critical condition, there can be no greater example of service to humanity than this. He called upon every healthy and eligible citizen to come forward for voluntary blood donation
The Chief Minister recalled Swami Vivekananda’s historic address at the World’s Parliament of Religions held in Chicago on September 11, 1893. He said that this historic speech not only presented India’s spiritual and eternal (Sanatan) values to the world but also conveyed a great message of universal brotherhood and humanity. Even today, Swamiji’s thoughts continue to inspire the entire world. The Chief Minister opined that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “One Earth, One Family, One Future” also reflects Swami Vivekananda’s ideal of universal humanity.
Explaining the social and humanitarian significance of blood donation, he said that blood has no religion, caste or creed. A blood donor does not know to which person their donated blood will be given, and similarly, a blood recipient does not know through whose donated blood they got a new lease of life. Blood donation thus creates a deep humanitarian bond among people. The blood donated by one donor can be separated into different components and used in the treatment of multiple patients as needed, as a result, one person’s blood donation can play an important role in saving multiple lives. This is why everyone needs to come forward for regular voluntary blood donation. Calling upon people to follow Swami Vivekananda’s ideals in life, the Chief Minister said that the purpose of human life is not merely self-interest. The true fulfillment of life lies in working for the welfare of the weak, helpless and underprivileged sections of society. Genuine welfare of people is not possible through any kind of deceit or outward show. One must stand by people with dedication, honesty and a spirit of service. Keeping this ideal in mind, everyone should work for society and for people.
Praising the various service activities of the Ramakrishna Mission, the Chief Minister said that the Ramakrishna Mission is not confined merely to spiritual practice.
It has long been playing an important role in education, health, skill development, and standing by people during various natural disasters. The way the monks and volunteers of the Ramakrishna Mission came forward for relief and service work during the devastating floods in the state is truly a matter of pride.
The Chief Minister further said that the joint initiative taken by the state government and the Ramakrishna Mission to launch a foreign language training course is extremely important. As a result, students of the state will get the opportunity for this training within their own state. He expressed hope that such skills would create more opportunities for them in the future in the fields of higher education and employment. He further said that the need for blood is immense during a person’s critical moments. The tendency for voluntary blood donation among the general public in the state has increased significantly at present. Public awareness needs to be built to sustain this success. The Chief Minister also informed that progress is being made in the field of organ transplantation in the state. Encouraging blood donors, the Chief Minister said that those who donate blood voluntarily are undoubtedly performing a great service for society. Through blood donation, a person comes forward to save another person’s life without any expectation in return. This humanitarian consciousness has a tremendous positive impact on society. Before the start of the program, the Chief Minister inspected the blood donation camp and spoke with the voluntary blood donors to encourage them.
The welcome address at the program was delivered by Swami Amartyananda, Secretary of Dhaleswar Ramakrishna Mission. The vote of thanks was proposed by Swapan Chandra Das, retired Justice and President of the Managing Committee of Dhaleswar Ramakrishna Mission. Also present at the program were Hon’ble Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation and MLA Dipak Majumder, along with monks and volunteers of the Ramakrishna Mission.
