Agartala, Tripura, 24th of May, 2025 : The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) constituted Adhoc Committee for Tripura, mandated by the orders of the President, Indian Olympic Association, vide Ref No: IOA/II-32/TSOA/2024/2040 dated 8th November 2024 and its subsequent extension vide Ref. No: IOA/II-32/TSOA/2025/2177 dated 12th February 2025, is pleased to announce the successful conclusion of its entrusted mandate.

The primary objective of the Adhoc Committee was to facilitate a fair and transparent electoral process to establish the apex State Olympic body for Tripura, thereby protecting the Olympic Movement and ensuring the revival of the sports culture in the state. After more than 15 years of stagnation, this democratic process now enables the talented youth of Tripura to represent the state at regional, national, and international platforms with dignity and transparency.
With the initiative of President, Indian Olympic Association Dr. P.T. Usha, Adhoc Committee for Tripura Olympic Association has been formed in collaboration with the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports and Tripura Sports Council on Friday (23rd May, 2025). Olympian Padma Shri Dipa Karmakar has been appointed as the president of this committee, Sujit Roy as the General Secretary and Ratan Kumar Das as the Treasurer. This committee has been formed with 15 members.

The newly elected Executive Committee of the Tripura Olympic Association (TOA) will now serve a four-year term from 2025 to 2029. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the newly elected President, General Secretary, Executive Members, and office bearers of TOA. The IOA is confident that their leadership will usher in a new era of professional sports administration in Tripura.
The results, declared officially by the Returning Officer (RO) and Assistant Returning Officer (ARO), mark the culmination of a comprehensive and transparent electoral process. This momentous occasion was further commemorated with an oath-taking ceremony held at the Conference Hall of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Yuba Awas, Khejurbagan, Agartala, Tripura in the presence of key stakeholders and dignitaries.
“The boys and girls of Tripura are not behind in any field. The boys and girls of the state also have to move forward in the field of sports. The state government is working to develop sports infrastructure in various parts of the state.”, Hon’ble Youth Affairs & Sports, Social Welfare & Social Education Minister Tinku Roy said at the oath-taking ceremony of the officers and members of the Adhoc committee of the Tripura Olympic Association Shaheed Bhagat Singh youth hostel.
The Youth Affairs and Sports Minister also added that the newly elected Tripura Olympic Association will play an important role in the development of sports in the State. He said that in the last 5 years, the State’s athletes have won more than 50 gold and silver medals in various competitions. The Sports Minister wished the committee success.

Amidst the distinguished dignitaries participants there were Mizoram Olympic Association President MLA Robert Romawia Royte, Arunachal Pradesh Olympic Association General Secretary Bamang Tago, Director of the Youth Affairs and Sports Department of Tripura Satyabrata Nath, Tripura Sports Council Secretary Sukanta Ghosh and may other distinguished dignitaries were present in the event. The event was presided over by Tripura Ad Hoc Committee Chairman and Meghalaya Olympic Association Executive President John F. Kharshiing. Secretary of the Youth Affairs and Sports Department Dr. Pradeep Kumar Chakravarty congratulated the newly elected committee members in his vote of thanks.
