ATTF And NLFT  Cadres Surrender At 7th Bn TSR.

Jampuijala, Tripura, 24th of September, 2024 : Peace is the major prerequisite for development. We all are delighted to witness this historic day in the state, stated the chief minister Dr. Manik Saha at special programme to mark the return of the members of ATTF and NLFT to mainstream life at the headquarters of TSR 7th battalion at Jampuijala under Sepahijala District on Tuesday (24th September, 2024). Chief Minister said, now onward we could declare that there is zero insurgency in Tripura. He said, Narendra Modi after becoming Prime Minister said – overall development of India could not be possible without the development of Northeast region. With such an outlook the Prime Minister is taking one after another step for the development of this region. In this context the chief minister said, a peace accord was signed between the Government of India, state government and NLFT and ATTF. As part of that peace accord the members of these two organizations laid down arms and returned to normal life.

Addressing the gathering the chief minister further said, a total of 12 peace accords have been signed involving the Northeast, of which three were signed for Tripura. Through these peace accords about 10,000 militants have returned to normal life in this region. The chief minister welcomed all of them who joined the mainstream to take forward the process of development. Leaders of both the organizations NLFT and ATTF handed over weapons to the chief minister at today’s programme.

At the programme president of NLFT (BM) Biswamohan Debbarma, president of NLFT (PD) Parimal Debbarma, president of NLFT (ORI) Prasenjit Debbarma and president of ATTF Alindra Debbarma handed over their AK series rifles. Apart from them, total 584 members of NLFT and ATTF laid down their arms. Among them, 261 were from NLFT (BM), 100 from NLFT (pd, 100 from NLFT (ORI) and 123 from ATTF. Total weapons handed over included – 9 AK series rifles, 1 revolver, 1 rifle, 89 country guns, 8 factory made guns, 7 land mines and 13 pistols.

Welcome address was delivered in today’s programme by DGP Amitabha Ranjan. Among others present there were chief secretary J.K Sinha, home secretary Dr. P.K. Chakraborty and other officials. Vote of thanks was given by DG (law and order and intelligence), Tripura Police, Anurag Dhyankar.
