Dharmanagar, Tripura, 8th of June 2026 : A special one-day awareness camp and trekking programme was organized in Dharmanagar, North Tripura, as part of the “Neshamukt Tripura Abhiyan” aimed at building a drug-free society. The programme was organized by the Department of Education, Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of Tripura, with active support from the Bharat Scouts and Guides.A total of 80 students, Scouts and Guides from various schools and educational institutions across North Tripura participated in the event. The programme was attended by Dharmanagar MLA Jahar Chakraborty, along with other distinguished guests. Basab Nandi, District Secretary of Scouts and Guides, and several other officials were also present.

The primary objective of the programme was to raise awareness among young people about the harmful effects of drug addiction and to encourage them to adopt a healthy, positive, and productive lifestyle.The day-long event included trekking activities, training camps, seminars, street plays, sports competitions, and awareness programmes on blood donation. Speakers emphasized that the youth must take the lead in eliminating the menace of drugs from society and spread awareness within their communities.
Officials present at the event stated that the “Neshamukt Tripura Abhiyan” is not merely a government programme but a social movement aimed at protecting young people from substance abuse and providing opportunities for the development of their talents and potential.At the conclusion of the programme, participants took an anti-drug pledge and committed themselves to spreading awareness in society. The gathering collectively expressed its determination to work towards building a drug-free, healthy, and progressive Tripura.
