Agartala, Tripura, 10th of June, 2025 : Awareness Program In Connection With National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) organised by Nasha Mukti Club of BBM College In Collaboration With East Jogendranagar UPHC on Tuesday (10th June, 2025).

The Nasha Mukti Club of Bir Bikram Memorial College successfully organized an awareness program on National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) with students and teaching staffs as per instruction from health and family welfare department, West Tripura.
The program commenced with felicitation of the guests with bouquet by students of BBM College. Miss Hamari Jamati, Jt. Secretary of the Teachers’ Council, BBM College, delivered the welcome address and highlighted the role of educational institutions in combating substance abuse.
Sri Partha Pratim Nath, Medical Officer I/c, Jogendra Nagar UPHC discussed in detail about aims and objects of NTCP, tobacco addiction & its adverse effects, legal aspects, treatment & preventive measures. Kabita Ghosh Debbarma, Counsellor from District tobacco control cell discussed on Counselling for de- addiction of tobacco products amongst the students.

Anamika Chakraborty, Community Health Officer, College Tilla engaged students with small IEC activities to spread message amongst students, who subsequently pass the message to their peer groups and community members.
The event aimed to educate students and faculty members about the severe physical and psychological consequences of drug abuse. They shared their experiences and provided valuable information on the psychological and social ramifications of drug abuse, as well as the efforts undertaken by state enforcement agencies to curb this menace. The program was attended by a distinguished panel of guests, faculty members, students and medical staffs of East Jogendranagar UPHC.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Samir Kumar Diabagh, Convener of the Nasha Mukti Club and master volunteer of West Tripura District. He reiterated the collective responsibility of society in addressing the issue of drug addiction and encouraged students to lead a drug-free life.
The event was well-received, with active participation from students and faculty members. It served as an effective platform for disseminating knowledge and fostering a sense of responsibility towards creating a drug-free society.
