Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha Flags Off Ambulance And Launches Vehicle Location Tracking and Monitoring System.

Agartala, Tripura, 2nd of July, 2025 : With the initiative of Transport Department, Government of Tripura Ambulance Flag Off ceremony and vehicle Location Tracking and Monitoring System programme organized at Swami Vivekananda Ground, Agartala, Tripura on Wednesday (2nd July, 2025). In the In the presence of many distinguished dignitaries Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha flagged off  new 16 ambulance  and virtual inaugurated Vehicle Location Tracking and Monitoring System.

Addressing at the Ambulance Flag Off ceremony and vehicle Location Tracking and Monitoring System event Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that road safety cannot be controlled by rules or laws alone. It is the responsibility of every citizen to follow the road laws. Road accidents and loss of life can be avoided through public awareness and caution. Raising awareness is one of the ways to reduce road accidents. Under the initiative of the Transport Department, 16 basic life support ambulances have been provided to the State Police (Traffic) and Fire and Emergency Services Departments under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment Scheme. A total of Rs 3.84 crore has been spent on the purchase of 16 ambulances. And launched vehicle location tagging and surveillance system has been introduced for passenger safety.

As the chief guest at the event, Chief Minister Professor Manik Saha said that  providing safety to people is one of the main goals of the Current government. In line with that direction, the State Government is taking various initiatives to ensure the safety of pedestrians and passengers. The provision of 16 ambulances by the Transport Department and the installation of tracking devices in vehicles will play a major role in the road safety programme. When a person dies in an accident, not only does a family lose its loved ones, but also the society, the state and the country suffer a huge loss. The Chief Minister also said that road accidents are no longer a personal matter, it is our national loss.

“Apart from the loss of human resources, many families are getting lost in road accidents. The issue is also very worrying. In this situation, various schemes are being implemented at the central and state levels across the country regarding road safety. In this context, the Chief Minister highlighted the various notable schemes of the Transport Department taken to prevent road accidents and in the interest of pedestrians, such as the Rah-Bir Scheme (Sunagarik Scheme) through which there is a provision to give a reward of Rs 25,000 and a certificate to the person who helps in an accident, the Hit and Run Scheme, the Vehicle Crapping Policy, etc.”, Chief Minister added.

The Chief Minister also said that awareness about road safety is essential along with necessary education. He said that the main causes of road accidents include driving at high speed, driving under the wrong direction, driving under the influence of alcohol, not wearing helmets, driving inattentively, etc. The Chief Minister stressed the importance of following traffic rules, maintaining awareness and ensuring that students and parents are also aware of road safety. He said that currently, a positive impact is being seen in the state in road safety. As a result, road accidents in the state have reduced to a large extent compared to the previous year. The Chief Minister expressed the hope that today’s initiative will benefit the citizens a lot.

Addressing at the event Hon’ble Transport and Tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury said various programs are being implemented in the State for road safety throughout the year under the initiative of the Transport and Traffic department. Public awareness is very important in road safety. Various programs have been taken under the initiative of various departments including the Transport Department and Traffic Department. The Transport Minister highlighted the provision of Interceptor Vehicles, Good Samaritan Award, VLT. etc. He said that we should not help accident victims just for the sake of awards. It is our social responsibility to stand by people in critical moments.

Secretary of the Transport Department Uttam Kumar Chakma delivered the welcome address at the inaugural session. Amidst the other distinguished dignitaries there were State’s Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag, Hon’ble Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Dipak Majumder and many other distinguished dignitaries were present in the inauguration ceremony today. The program concluded with a vote of thanks Additional Secretary of the Transport Department Subrata Chowdhury.
