Agartala, Tripura, 6th of February, 2025 : With the initiative of Directorate Of Elementary Education Government of Tripura has been organized State Level Competition Cum Exhibition of making of Low Cost Teaching Learning Materials (TLMs) at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan, Agartala on Thursday (6th February, 2025). In the presence of many dignitaries Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the State Level Competition Cum Exhibition of making of Low Cost Teaching Learning Materials (TLMs) by lighting the lamp.
“Innovative teaching is one of the most important aspects of promoting quality education. The state has laid emphasis on innovative teaching right from the primary level. NIPUN (National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Understanding and Numeracy) Mission Tripura is working tirelessly to ensure basic education to about 90,000 students at the primary level, following the National Education Policy.”, Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said at the inaugural ceremony of State Level Competition of making of Low Cost Teaching Learning Materials (TLMs) today.
The Chief Minister said at the event that the country’s National Education Policy has been launched under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. One of the goals of which is to educate children in basic education and make them skilled from the primary level through proper knowledge analysis.
The Chief Minister also added that the importance of teaching learning materials as a part of the NIPUN (National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Understanding and Numeracy) Mission program is immense. Teaching learning materials are very helpful in providing quality education to primary level students and in teaching properly from the primary level. The main responsibility for implementing this lies with the school teachers. NIPUN Tripura aims to develop the foundation of education and basic skills in children aged 3 to 7 years.
“The NIPUN Mission was launched nationwide on July 5, 2021 with the aim of ensuring that every student completes Grade 2 by 2026-27 with the aim of achieving basic literacy and numeracy skills. NIPUN Tripura was launched in the state on November 18, 2022. The Chief Minister said that the goal of NIPUN Mission in the state of Tripura is to reach out to about 1 lakh 50 thousand students and about 12 thousand teachers with the success of this mission. There are 4,227 Government and government aided schools under NIPUN Tripura Mission. Presently, the NIPUN program in the State has reached out to more than 10 thousand teachers and about 90 thousand students from primary level to second grade. NIPUN Tripura Mission has already gained a good reputation in the country.”, Chief Minister also added.
At the beginning of the program, the Chief Minister visited the exhibition stalls of TLM products in districts of the state and exchanged views with the teachers. At the program, the Chief Minister and the guests unveiled the cover of a booklet detailing the achievements of the Education Department.
NCERT Director NC Sharma delivered the welcome speech on the occasion. Amidst the distinguished dignitaries of the programme there were Raval Hemendra Kumar, Special Secretary of the School Education Department, Teachers from different schools and many others remained present in the event.
