Belonia, Tripura, 5th of July, 2025 : With the initiative of Oriental Club, Belonia organized Oriental Football Tournament 2025 at Belonia Vidyapith Play Ground, Belonia, South Tripura, Tripura on Saturday 5th July, 2025). In the In the presence of many distinguished dignitaries Hon’ble Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport and Tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury kicked off the Oriental Football Tournament 2025.
Addressing at the opening ceremony of Oriental Football Tournament Hon’ble Food, Transport and Tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury said that Sports not only provide physical development but also mental development. Therefore, the current State Government is giving special importance to improving the quality of sports. For this purpose, sports infrastructure is being developed in various districts of the state.
The Transport and Tourism minister said such sports events, local players get an opportunity to showcase their talents. As a result, talented players can participate in various state-level and national-level competitions in the future. The State Government is also making efforts so that local talented players can represent the state at the national and international levels.
Addressing the occasion, the Transport and Tourism minister remarked that today, as a result of infrastructural development, not only has the sports environment been created, but local players are also being encouraged. Synthetic Turf Football Ground have been built in various districts of the State for this purpose. Besides, such arrangements also play an important role in keeping the youth away from the clutches of addiction.
On behalf of the Oriental Club, the students who passed the Madhyamik and Higher Secondary Board Examinations 2025 from Belonia Subdivision were also felicitated. The Transport and Tourism minister presented them with certificates and mementos.
Amidst the other distinguished dignitaries there were Tripura Sports Council member Dipayan Chowdhury, South Tripura Football Association vice-president Dhruba Prasad Majumder, Belonia Cricket Association secretary Partha Chowdhury, Oriental Football Tournament chairman Sayantan Datta and others. The event was presided over by Shribas Sen, President of Belonia Oriental Club.
